About | The Artful Appetite

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! This is where I share my passions: for food, photography, art, and adventure. Lots of things brought me to this point in life. It all started back in 2010.

2010 was a year of changes: I graduated from university, got married, honeymooned, and then my new husband and I moved to Japan. This all happened within a three month period. You guys-it was CRAZY town! In hindsight, I’m not really sure how I managed to get all of that done. Whew!

While living in Japan, I decided to teach myself photography. It became my new endeavor about which I obsessed. I started a blog about our travels and also about food. It was an excellent way to keep our family and friends up-to-date on what we were up to on our adventure abroad.

After three years of living and teaching English in Japan, we are now back home in Minnesota. I occupy my time now by sometimes photographing weddings and taking portraits, making lots of art, and, of course, cooking lots of delicious food. I’m living my dream-so glad you stopped by to join me!

A note about my process~

Although my husband and I are not “strictly” vegan, we do maintain a plant-based diet probably 90% of the time. We recently transitioned into this lifestyle, and we are both loving it! I am very passionate about living healthily and whole-heartedly. This, along with extensive research, has led me to eating a plant-based diet and also doing lots of yoga.

One of the biggest reasons I am starting this blog is because I am regularly asked to share recipes. I figure that blogging is a visually beautiful and efficient way to share my love of delicious food.

I am always seeking inspiration for recipes. I read cookbooks, read countless blogs, and develop my own recipes. I always note the origin of the recipes I post if they are not my own invention. All photographs are my own and copyrighted unless noted otherwise.
